The Bulldog Experience

So you are officially a Bulldog. Now what? Here are some important tips and places to help kick-start your Bulldog experience.

Technology Resources

The Office of Information Technology is committed to serving and supporting the University’s mission through innovative uses of technology. We want all students, visitors, and faculty and staff members to have the best technology experience while on campus. We serve the main campus in Wingate and the Ballantyne and Hendersonville campuses.

We have also created a Helpful Resources page to answer some of our most commonly asked questions and provide most troubleshooting solutions. If you need help but can’t find it there, there are other options: Send a request to us or call the Help Desk at (704)233-8333. Or you can stop by the IT Help Desk on the first floor of the library to ask a question in person.

Wingate Outfitters

It’s easy for students to get what they need for Wingate University life. More than just the bookstore, we are a one-stop shopping source to buy textbooks, course supplies, Wingate gear, and accessories or other items needed to make over a residence-hall room, Wingate-style. We’ve got our Bulldogs covered for game day too, with Wingate University merchandise and tailgate items to show off that #OneDog school spirit.

To get started with textbook orders, please visit us at www.wingateoutfitters.com, and use the Textbook Lookup tab under the main menu. Here is a short video on how to find and order textbooks.

Any questions or concerns about placing an order? Please contact us at bookstore@wingate.edu.

Ethel K. Smith Library

The Ethel K. Smith Library contains more than 100,000 print volumes and provides access to an array of resources. Our subscriptions to online general and scholarly journals and our InterLibrary Loan service expand research capabilities for students and faculty beyond what’s available within our walls. But it’s here where you can find the most important resource available to you: our team of dedicated librarians and staff. Check out this short video for more information about how the Ethel K. Smith Library serves Wingate University students, faculty and the community in extending learning.

The Ethel K. Smith Library is an ideal place to study, either individually or with a group. Our facilities include:

  • Group study spaces.
  • Individual study rooms.
  • Study carrels.

If you are just getting started on a research project or a thesis, we can point you in the right direction. If you already have a focus, we can help take that research even further. Our professional librarians and staff assist in the way that works best for each student. In addition to their help, the library offers additional services, including:

  • Ask Ethel, our instant-messaging service.
  • Reference consultations.

We hope to see all our new Bulldogs when you stop by for a cup of coffee at Einstein’s, ask for our help or find a quiet spot to dive into research. Our primary goal is to help our students. Oh, did we mention? It’s always a great day at the Ethel K!

Campus Recreation

Wingate University academics strengthens the mind. Campus Recreation strengthens the body, and we want to help you Unleash an active lifestyle! We want to ensure that you’re as healthy in body as in mind. There’s no shortage of ways for students to get fit or stay in shape. Watch this Campus Recreation video to see how you can release your inner Bulldog!

Campus Recreation offers outstanding campus facilities> with a broad range of intramural sportsfitness classes, sports clubs, outdoor opportunities, and recreation events.

It’s not all fun and games. We also offer employment opportunities. Students can get a job leading fitness classes, refereeing intramural games, or helping manage the facilities, all while developing marketable skills that will help them succeed after graduation. WU graduates who worked for Campus Recreation have gone on to careers in outdoor education, campus recreation, and fitness training fields.

With all that we offer, students can fit in a Zumba class after studying for midterms or plan on an outdoor adventure. Intramural teams are a great way to make new friends and keep up with those soccer skills. And our suspended running/walking track is perfect for a run between classes.
